Using the latest version of SilverFast AI, I cannot get the "find frames" option to reliably find the frames on color negatives - out of a dozen frames it may outline one or two correctly (Canoscan 9950f using negative holder). Am I missing something? ScanTools rarely fails in this area.
I've had quite disappointing trials of both SilverFast and v**s**n. I wasted a lot of time with SilverFast SE and v**s**n which do not seem to even have an option to discern frames from negatives. I have 2 goals for scanning software:
1. Digitize hundreds of negatives into files suitable for 4X6 printing without having to manually delimit or process each frame.
2. For selected frames (the few great shots) perform detailed scans and adjustments in order to maximize the resulting image.
SilverFast looks like it can do a good job at #2 but what is the best way to accomplish #1?

sroberts,
According to the following quote from this web site, it sounds like the best method is for you to create and save frame sets for your slide holders.

The automatic frame is available for all SilverFast 6.5 versions and is best suited to identify images which are positioned on the flatbed without an image holder.
In those cases where an image holder is required, the recommendation would be to generate an according template and save the positioned frames, "General / Save Frame".
