does silverfast support mulitple images in one pass??

Postby sunfish » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:58 am

first my apologies if this is covered elsewhere in the forum but i am a little pressed for time and not sure how to frame a search .

My scanner's (epson perfection 2450) scan software which only run's under rossetta on intel mac's had a feature which worked really well on power pc computers. This will still work on intel macs but running the epson scanner software in rossetta mode in general on intel mac is flakey This feature is one scan multiple images . When it works which it did well on power pc mac's i was able to place multiple images on the scan bed press one button and the scanner would identify the boundaries of the photos and scan each seperately . I would not have to select each image manually the scanner software "found" the photos for me.
Unfortunately I am finding that under rosetta the scanner software now performs flakily . I need to restart to get photoshop to "see" the scanner under rosetta . Sometimes for unknown reasons Photoshop still doesn't see the scanner but will another time . If I quit photoshop then reopen and the computer hasn't been restarted in the meantime it I will need to restart the computer to see the scanner again (maybe). I have experienced these difficulties on different intel computers with different versions of the OSX , so i don't feel this is a problem with errors in one particular computer or installation .

Rather than sell a perfectly good scanner I thought I would try silver fast as it is scanning software that runs in native intel mode. But I can't find the above feature I described . For me being able to scan multiple images with the clik on one button is the Killer Feature I must have with any scanning software. It means I can press a button and ignore the scanner until the scan of the mulitple images is completed . I am aware that one can save certain scan sequences but this is not as good as I have many many photos to scan . The above feature totally negates the need to setup scan sequences and means one can be much more casual about the placement of the photos to be scanned on the scanner bed.
If someone could advise me yes or no whether silverfast supports this feature. I would be grateful. My apologies if my exploration of the Silverfast software has failed to reveal how to achieve this.
thanks Dave
Does Silverfast have this feature , I can't locate it . If it does I may purchase if it doesn't i will not .

Dear Sunfish,

It is not possible to scan multiple images in one pass.

SilverFast will allow you to detect the images you have in your film holder or in the surface of your scanbed and then scan one after another with the consequent time it takes (according to your resolution and options set).
You can make this by using the batchscan option or the Job-Manager, which even allows you to adjust every picture individually.

For further instructions on how to operate each please refer to our instruction manual:

There you will find all related information

You can also download and test the demo version from:

Thank you very much for your interest in our products.

Have a nice day
