Oh, "XXX" was the substitute symbol in the translation for AI  .
Can't I install drivers for another scanner in addition?
A strange business model to buy several times the same software (with small differences for the scanners).

Hi there,
Unfortunately it is necessary to purchase a new license/version for each different type of scanner you want to run with Silverfast.
However, contact Lasersoft's Sales people via e-mail. They do offer discounts for multiple purchases and were very helpful to me when I purchased Ai Studio for my Nikon LS9000 when I already owned Ai Studio for an Epson 4870.
I think the issue behind this 'business model' is that the development work required for building Silverfast to run with so many different scanners can be quite expensive in time, and in buying licenses for the various SDK's and Libraries used to drive the scanners where that is required.
Cheers.

If the problem is with a SCSI interface, then you must install the ASPI interface (www.adaptec.com , search for ASPI , download and install the latest) and see if the scanner is recognized under XP.
If it does not get recognized, then you may be stuck with dual booting XP and 98
If it does recognize the scanner, then there is hope. Try the demo AI to see if it works.
Good luck !

Adaptec?
The SCSI card is a "LSI logic 53C810".
This is the card from the Scanner. It doesn't work with other cards (I have not all tested).
The Driver is in Windows xp integrated.
Not the SCSI-Card is the Problem, the Scanner-driver does not support Windows xp.
Do i need a driver for the Scanner, or has Silverfast a own driver?
When i must install Win98(SE), i can use the original software from Heidelberg :-? .
>>>Adaptec?
provides the access layer in win xp for scsi interfaces. Without this (ASPI layer) win xp will not talk to the scsi card. Adaptec is one of several providers of the ASPI layer interface. Works with almost any card (all that i have tried).

Yes, but not the ASPI layer interface.

Unless some other device works off of this card now, you need the ASPI layer installed with win XP. You may have installed the ASPI layer for something else and not be aware of it. The easy way to find out is the download and run a program called ASPICHK (or something like that). It will tell you if the ASPI layer is installed correctly.

SF uses the native driver supplied by the manufacturer. i am not aware that SF has developed any drivers for scanners, just an interface to the native driver.

Should work ok. Yes.
