Hi, I'm scanning 6x6 frames taken on fuji 160S film using an Epson V750
I have a really odd problem whereby after drawing the frames, there is one particular image that appears with a VERY strong blue colour cast (not repairable post scan). Its best described by the screenshot really. If I select the adjacent frame the colours appear normal again. It happens just with this one frame. I have tried deleting the frame and copying settings from the adjacent one by using the Alt+click shortcut, but as soon as I drag the frame on the relevant image area the blue cast appears again all of a sudden. I have tried both with CCR on and off but it makes no difference. Its really driving me crazy any help would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks

Re: different colour cast on same preview page
Dear customer,
SilverFast 6 still uses the color management and settings of the active frame for the entire preview area.
So if you select another frame the blue cast occurs due to the settings for the active frame.
SilverFast 6 had to work this way because when it was developed the performance of computers was not sufficient to allow simultaneous handling of multiple settings and color management profiles.
This is only a matter of the user interface and has no influence on your scans.
Selecting a frame will always use that frame's settings in the preview.
In SilverFast 8 this has changed and each frame will be shown with it's own individual settings.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn

Re: different colour cast on same preview page
Dear Arne
thanks very much for your reply. The problem I have is that the blue colour cast is not just in the preview, its there in the actual scan. Take a look at my latest screenshot, this is with the image on the right (the one with the crosses just to be clear) selected. Both frames have good colours, happy with that. Now if I copy the settings of the frame on the right with the good colours by using Alt+click and then drag the new frame onto the image on the left (the one with the house and sea) the colour cast immediately appears. The funny thing is, the colour cast only appears if I drag is across the whole frame, if I only drag it across half of the frame for example, I don't have this problem, but its hardly a solution, I need to scan the entire picture! Its as if the software is making some auto colour correction and for some frames it gets it wrong - is that possibly what's going on? How can I fix it?
many thanks

Re: different colour cast on same preview page
I can not really see any color cast in the image you have sent.
But please try updating to the latest version (6.6.2).
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Thanks, I'll try with the upgrade, but you can see the difference between the 2 images I attached, the first one has a very distinct blue colour cast compared to the second image.

Re: different colour cast on same preview page
Hi unfortunately upgrading to 6.6.2 didn't help. The colour cast is present in the final scan too unfortunately. If you can compare the 2 images I uploaded the blue cast is very apparent. Both frames are from the same film shot in the same lighting conditions and have used exactly the same settings. I understand that if I chose certain settings in 1 frame then those will apply to the entire preview. What I don't understand is that if I copy settings to all frames, surely then what I saw in that first preview should not change if I click into another frame since they have the same settings right? Not so, I get quite different and random results, in this case with a heavy blue colour cast.
thx

Re: different colour cast on same preview page
The same settings will not work exactly the same for different images.
Each image has it's own unique histogram.
If you simply copy settings from one frame to another the data will not exactly fit the other image.
This could create a colorcast.
You can either use the image auto adjustment, the manual pipette tool or the sliders below the histogram to make individual adjustments for each image.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
