Confusion with Multi exposure feature

Postby lilybriscoe » Sun Jul 29, 2007 8:46 pm

Hi:

I recently paid to upgrade my Silver Fast SE version to the SE Plus version in order to use the multiexposure feature. I have registered the product and believe that I am using the most up to date version of the software.

I am uncertain if I am using the ME feature correctly. I am trying to use multi exposure with a b&w negative on an epson V700 scanner. I would value any suggestions.

1. According to the SF directions, under the "Frame" tab I should select "48 bit color" from the drop down menu. However, this option appears in gray on the drop down list and is therefore not available. The 16bit option and the 1bit options are in gray as well.
Question: Why aren't all the options available on the drop down menu?

2. Since the 48bit color option is not available for ME, I tried using the 48bit HDR option but my scan turned out nearly black -- it looks as though it was not converted to a positive image.
Question: Is there some additional step I am supposed to do at this point in order to turn the scan into a positive image for editing?

Thank you for your help. :o

Dear Ms lilybriscoe

the latest version of SilverFast - the 651r1a you're using - does enable you
to use the Multi-Exposure feature with the 48>24 color mode.
Because of this innovation, the earlier statements of our support staff differ
from what you experience.
You should experience that SilverFast scans two passes, the second one taking
considerably longer (roughly four times the first).

Kind regards
