Maybe I'm missing something, but I have an Epson 4990 and it says on the site that the 4990 supports ME. So I downloaded the SE version to test - I'd like to see if I want ME before shelling out the extra $$.
It will only work with 48bit HDR - it doesn't give me the option to select plain 48bit - only the HDR version. The plain 48bit is grayed out, not offered.
Any ideas?

dear jeffu,
Multiexposure is available with SilverFast SEPlus and SilverFast Ai Studio version, but only you chose the Scan-Type: 48bit HDR color or 48bit color ( and only with transparency mode )
With the SilverFast version 6.5.0r4 the MultiExposure has an own button at the vertical button bar.
In the case the button is not seen, please delete once the LaserSoft Imaging folder.
On a typical Windows XP installation, the " LaserSoft Imaging " folder is to be found at: C: \ Documents and Settings \ (your username) \ Application Data \ LaserSoft Imaging
On a typical Mac OS X installation, the " LaserSoft Imaging " folder is to be found at:
/ User / (your username) / Library / Preferences / LaserSoft Imaging
If the MultiExposure button is still not seen, please check, if the version is serialized with the correct serial number. For this please launch SilverFast and click at the "i" button >> credits >> upgrate >> and check the serial number.
If there is any problem left please use our online support:

kind regards
Christoph

That's not the working either.
I see the button for ME just fine. I can even get it to run in 48bit HDR.
When I select the drop down I see 48->24 bit color, 16bit->8bit grayscale, then
1bit lineart
48bit color
16bt grayscale
are all grayed out - I can't select them.
then I see 48bit color HDR
and 16 bit HDR grayscale
I can select them, but I can't select 48bit color on it's own.
On the General tab I've selected transparency and transparency full screen, makes no difference.
In all of these I can see the ME button - only it will only work when I select 48bit HDR color.
