Automatic detection of frames.

Postby athegn » Sat Dec 09, 2006 6:58 pm

I hope that this is not too early for a question on this new release.

Quote from the news page on 6.5:-

"Image frames can now be detected and cropped automatically in the preview window using this new feature. It is necessary that the images have a certain distance between their border and the outer edge. A lack of distance could hinder a clear detection of frames. A high contrast background is helpful in reflective scans. In those cases where an image holder is required, the recommendation would be to generate an according template and save the positioned frames, "General / Save Frame".

My Epsom V700 uses a frame holder for 35mm negs. I have tried the frame idea, in Silverfast SE, but it means that I have to line up the individual film strips exactly. The Epsom software will take account of misaligned film strips

Can this auto detection cope with misaligned strips or is there not enough contrast between the individual frames on 35mm negs?

This assumes that this feature is available in SE.

Now realize that I need SE Plus.

But still need answer as to whether SE Plus will auto recognise 35mm negs.
