automatic add extention .jpg or .tiff

I work with the Silverfast Stand Alone version, which allowes me to work at the same time in Photoshop. When you save the files, you have to add yourself the extentions, like .jpg etc.
Is it not possible for Silverfast to automate this action? It would be much easier when the extentions are added by the program, like many other programs do. Saves a lot of writing and takes away mistakes.
