I am scanning 35mm color negatives at 2400dpi. For some reason, Silverfast is outputting 8 bit scans. For a while I was getting 16 bits, but now they are all 8. To my knowledge, I have not changed any settings.
How can I set the bit depth that I need?
48 -> 24 bit setting gives me 8 bit scans

Dear user,
that is correct, 48 -> 24 bit will give your 8 bit per channel. The 48 Bit output creates 16 Bit per channel images.
Kind regards,
Arne
