Deleting corrupted pref file & reinstalling (Mac)

There is no "ALT" key on Mac keyboard; it's the "Option" key. Anyway, after days of frustration it's working again. Phew!

Dear kkay2000

oh well, doesn't your keyboard have the imprint "alt" just above the symbol for "option"?

(cf. Apple's keyboard <a href="http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Developer_Notes/Macintosh_CPUs-G4/PowerMacG4/art/jos04.gif&imgrefurl=http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Developer_Notes/Macintosh_CPUs-G4/PowerMacG4/3Input-Output/chapter_4_section_9.html&h=243&w=821&sz=55&tbnid=1eslzFSEr60J:&tbnh=42&tbnw=143&hl=de&start=76&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dapple%2Bkeyboard%2B%252Bsite:apple.com%26start%3D60%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Dde%26hs%3DxIl%26lr%3D%26client%3Dopera%26rls%3Dde%26sa%3DN">pictured</a> on Apple's own website.)

No flaming here, please - thanks in anticipation of your kind co-operation :)
